Separate cover care from core care

A washable removable cover does not mean that the entire pillow can go in a washing machine. Check the sewn-in label for both components. If a care instruction is unclear, ask the seller before using water, heat or cleaning chemicals.

A manageable routine

Use a clean pillowcase and wash it according to its label. Inspect the cover for wear and allow any damp fabric to dry fully before replacing it. Keep the pillow away from direct heat unless the manufacturer specifically permits it.

Unpacking a foam pillow

Open packaging carefully to avoid cutting the cover. The Derila Ergo user guide asks buyers to allow 6–8 hours for expansion. Follow the instructions supplied with your actual model, since versions and materials can change.

When replacement makes sense

There is no universal replacement date for every pillow. Consider damage, persistent odors that cannot be addressed by permitted cleaning, or a shape that no longer feels comfortable. A worn pillow should not be kept only because an advertised lifespan has not elapsed.

Keep a simple care record

Photograph the care label when the pillow arrives. Save it with your receipt and note whether instructions apply to the case, removable cover or core. When the cover is in the wash, avoid assuming that the exposed core can be cleaned the same way.

If instructions on the sales page and the delivered label conflict, contact the seller before washing. Do not experiment with high heat or soaking to resolve an unclear instruction.
